A Note To Self
I want to start this decade with intentions. Unlike resolutions, these are based on my past experiences that have guaranteed a positive outcome. Things like, “Red, you feel better when you dance,” or, “Red, you feel better when you sleep for 8 hours.” These are practices I know will guarantee me to feel better. So, instead of feeling helpless or frustrated when I don’t meet my goals, why not be reminded of the things that help me feel better?
I’ll keep it short and sweet by telling you what I’ve jotted down so far. And, I challenge you to start writing down practices to help you set intentions that will help you better take care of yourself.
My personal note to self
Red, you feel better when you exercise.
Red, you feel better when you rest right before your period starts.
Red, you feel better when you talk to your sisters.
Red, you feel better when you express yourself.
Red, you feel better when you eat your mom’s cooking.
Red, you feel better when you travel slowly.
Red, you feel better when you take a break from your travel nursing job and do what you’re passionate about.
Red, you feel better when you read a good book.
Red, you feel better when you take a bath or a long shower.
Red, you feel better when you spend time with people that make you be the best version of yourself.
Red, you feel better when you spend time in the dark room or photographing portraits.
Red, you feel better when you practice self-care.
Practicing self-care should be our inherent right, but it’s not always easy. That’s why I think writing about what makes you feel better is a good place to start. Journaling about how you manage your day-to-day problems can help you become better at taking care of yourself. It’s essentially genuine self-knowledge.
To help you start this practice I’m including a “Note to Self” template for you to download and use. Also, share your “Note to Self” experience in a comment below and let me know how you practice self care.
