When was the last time you moved to a new state to be close to your favorite donut shop? Probably never! I found out how cool Austin is while watching a food channel that was talking about a donut shop called Gourdough's. And It was then and there I decided to visit.

If you know me you know how much I love donuts. I could easily make this entire blog about my love for donuts, but I won't. When the opportunity presented itself for me to work in Austin in the form of a travel nurse assignment I said YES! Although my love for donuts runs deep there are other foods near and dear to my heart.

Here are 8 of the most memorable places I visited in Austin. 

1. Paperboy for breakfast

Two locations and two words that make their Texas hash yummy Pecan Mole! Paperboy is a great breakfast choice. I tried the Texas hash without the pork and it was still delicious. 

2. Irene's for brunch

3. Arlo’s for lunch or dinner

4. Dee Dee Northern Thai street food

5. Bodhi Viet Veggie Cuisine for some Vegetarian Vegan Vietnamese food 

6. Pool burger by the “beach”

7. Churros for God's gift to your sweet taste buds

Bonus: Coffee and Beer in Austin

If you're going to Seventh flag coffee shop you'll find Gourdoughs food truck right across the street. Another great coffee shop is Radio coffee and beer and strategically placed next to Paperboy food truck (Manchaca Rd). Thier outside seatings is a perfect place to chill while enjoying a breakfast sandwich from paperboy and coffee from Radio coffee and or beer.

Austin has many breweries and bars. I can't say I've visited a huge selection, but the ones I did, did not disappoint. Zilker brewing company and taproom is a great place to stop after walking around looking at graffiti murals around town. My favorite bar was Firehouse lounge, mainly because of the secret bookshelf door that opens to the bar. The drinks and vibe were ok, I don't like to much crowd, but if its something you like you'll appreciate the coziness.

Saying bye to Austin

I stayed in Austin for four months and I barely scratched the surface. It's a place I visit because of its food truck charm and inviting weather, but it became a place where I instantly fell in love with the people and vibe. Last, but not least stop by the greetings from Austin mural and take a picture, how else would you tell your friends you were in Austin.
